Tesco Express (Dog & Topper), Nottingham

Falcon Construction Services were award this £750,000 project by Tesco Stores PLC.

The brief was to convert a former public house into a 4500 sq ft Tesco Express store with 2 residential flats above and a further 2 retail units to the basement / ground floor area. All were to be completed to NHBC Standards.

This was a demanding project by the very nature of the existing split-level building, which comprised 3 floors. This was coupled with a project duration of just 18 weeks, meaning works had to be carefully sequenced to meet our client's requirements and most importantly the store opening date.

Despite being severely delayed by encountering a "Nottingham cave" (a feature that's typical of the region) of some 200m³ in the external works and partly under the new extension, Falcon were still able to maintain the overall programme and health and safety considerations and deliver the project to the client on time.

This project underlines the strengths of the company's ability to combine fast track shopfitting works with building and structural works for retail clients.
